New York Times Lie: China Allows Youtube

China: YouTube Again Accessible

NOT TRUE! When I pinged youtube from Shanghai this morning I got the message Packets lost (100%). Hong Kong wasn't blocked.

Many porn sites in China have reopened recently after being shut down by the government. I guess they've shifted their internet-police resources. Pro-human rights sites like China Human Rights Defender have been shut down by hacking attacks from China's government, however.

On tuesday Youtube admitted that China was blocking the popular video site. Most agree it is because of a recent video that exposes Chinese torturing captive Tibetan civilians.

The video is often flagged on youtube for violence, which means visitors must sign in to view it. China has called the video "a lie," as Tibet is under martial law during the anniversary of Tibet's first uprising.
