AP Downplays Climategate As Simply A 'Break In'

Anyone surprised the Associated Press would cover it up?

AP falsely describes a hacker hacking the scientists' servers, repeating the false line over and over, and then half-way through gives a tiny mention: "Some climate change skeptics and bloggers claim the information shows scientists have overstated the case for global warming..."

Yet AP fails to report what the information is that makes 'some skeptics' claim this (or the conspiracy claims), or the actual claims. AP only cites the "hide the decline" and quickly gives the lame excuse which all the liberal media are giving.

No mention of:

  • Discussion of interference with IPCC procedures to block low-warming reasonable and published papers.
  • Discussion of removal of climate reviewers who are open minded to low-warming papers. The fact that in GRL this apparently occurred after these discussions is a problem.
  • Discussion with the government about denial of FOIA to any climate audit blogger. FOIA is not meant to be for non-controversial topics it’s SPECIFICALLY for the contriversial ones. Free speech doesn’t protect nice words, it protects strong words.
  • Other data manipulation discussions. These are mostly hinted at except for a few instances but they are real and directed only toward strong warming.
  • [from noconsensus, see the evidence here]

Here's the real zinger: "The University of East Anglica said that information published on the Internet had been selected deliberately to undermine "the strong consensus that human activity is affecting the world's climate in ways that are potentially dangerous.""

What AP and nobody else reports is that these files were collected by the University itself for a Freedom of Information Act request which was successfully stonewalled by the University.

The real story behind this is CRU's unethical refusal of a FOI request, and the unbelievable reason why. Cover. Up.
