AP Lie: Bush Lawyers OK'd Torture

Report: No sanctions for lawyers who OK'd torture

The Associated Press headline claims Bush administration lawyers OK'd torture of detainees. AP claims the lawyers wrote "so-called torture memos," but fails to report anywhere in their report how the lawyers' conduct led to torture, or what torture was performed.

AP reports matter-of-factly that the lawyers made "legal theories that led to waterboarding and other harsh treatment of terrorism suspects." Apparently water boarding is inherantly torture, no debate needed on this point.

Actually, only three detainees were ever waterboarded, all before 2003. They were Osama bin Laden’s chief of operations; the mastermind of the bombing of the USS Cole; and mastermind of the 9/11 attacks.

AP leaves that little fact out.

AP leaves us with this propaganda: "The finding is likely to unsettle interest groups [aka Associated Press] who contended there should be sanctions for Bush administration lawyers who paved the way for tough interrogations, warrantless wiretapping and other coercive tactics."
