Associated Press Calls Beck Rally Racist, Anti-Government, Lowballs Audience Size

Too predictable. AP starts with a little racism:

Conservative commentator Glenn Beck and tea party champion Sarah Palin appealed Saturday to a vast, predominantly white crowd on the National Mall to help restore traditional American values and honor Martin Luther King's message. Civil rights leaders who accused the group of hijacking King's legacy held their own rally and march.

White people hijacking MLK's legacy! Oh dear! AP went through every person who showed up and noted their ethnicity. Because that's somehow important. Now let's greatly under-report the size of that "vast" conservative crowd:

"Palin told the tens of thousands who stretched from the marble steps of the Lincoln Memorial to the grass of the Washington Monument that calls to transform the country weren't enough."

Most media are giving this smaller number. The truth is that about 600,000 showed up. Now let's show Beck as a religious freak:

"Beck put a heavy religious cast on nearly all his remarks."

Great descriptives there.

A group of civil rights activists organized by the Rev. Al Sharpton held a counter rally at a high school, then embarked on a three-mile march to the site of a planned monument honoring King.

AP trumpets "civil rights activist" Al Sharpton's rally as comparable, but only 2,000 showed up to that rally. AP says "several thousand."

AP devotes much of their report to Al Sharpton's insignificant, hateful march. AP goes on to call Beck "anti-government."
