Associated Press Gives 'Good News': Teen Sex Doesn't Hurt Study Habits

Teen sex not always bad for school performance

Yes, that is seriously the headline from AP. They trumpet a study from the American Sociological Association in Atlanta which actually finds that children who have casual sex are much more likely to have trouble in school, and that "teens who have sex — whether it's a serious or casual relationship — were at higher risk of being truant and dropping out compared with teens who don't have sex."

AP explains this near the end of the article. Doesn't that seem to contradict the rest of the article?

AP- "There's good news for parents who worry that their teenagers' sex lives are affecting their school performance: A provocative new study has found that teens in committed relationships do no better or worse in school than those who don't have sex."
