The media is bending over backwards to ignore the amount of the national debt. John Stewart didn't mention it. He suggested that Republicans and Democrats compromise to a $45 billion cut. Someone forgot to tell him that Boehner's proposal is only $40 billion apparently.
But Yahoo/ Atlantic Wire is to the rescue! They give us a "number guide to the budget battle". Not really. Just a couple poll numbers, no mention of the national debt.
The federal government posted its largest monthly deficit in history in February at $223 billion, according to preliminary numbers the Congressional Budget Office... This year’s deficit is $1.4 trillion (that’s $1,400,000,000,000), which means that this year’s tax revenue will cover only two thirds of federal government spending.
