In response to the Colorado theater shooting, Mitt Romney stated:
“Today we feel not only a sense of grief, but perhaps also of helplessness. But there is something we can do. We can offer comfort to someone near us who is suffering or heavy-laden. And we can mourn with those who mourn in Colorado.”
Salt Lake Tribune pointed out: "The latter sentence seems straight out of Mosiah 18:8-9 in the Book of Mormon." They later augmented that report and admitted that the passage is also found in the Bible, Romans 12:15. But they stand by their report that he was quoting the Book of Mormon.
Let's look at both and see which more closely resembles what Romney said. Book of Mormon: "Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort."
Bible: "Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn."
The Book of Mormon tells us to be willing to mourn with those who mourn, but the bible simply commands us to mourn with those who mourn, which more closely resembles what Romney said. Mitt Romney was quoting the Bible. Salt Lake Tribune is wrong.
But it is the obsession with Mormonism that counts, that helps Obama.
